Why Is It Important to Share the Gospel?

Why do we share the gospel? That is such an important question, and the answer begins with the words of Jesus.

In Mark 16, Jesus tells His followers to go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Sherri points out that this matters because the gospel is not just a message people hear. It is the message through which people are saved, reconciled to God, and brought into relationship with the Father through Jesus.

That means we are not only saved from something, but also saved to something. We are brought into a relationship with God that is beautiful beyond what we could have imagined, and it never ends. Once we begin to know Jesus ourselves, it becomes natural to want others to know Him too.

That is why sharing the gospel is not just a duty. It is a response of love and obedience. We share because Jesus told us to, and we share because we know how good it is to know Him.

Sherri also connects this to the Great Commission in Matthew 28. Jesus told His followers to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all He commanded. We do not just get to tell people about Jesus. We get to help connect them to Him and walk with them as they grow in that relationship.

That is also the heart behind Harvest Movement: raising up laborers in the harvest who help restore lives and revitalize communities. The gospel changes people, and changed people become part of God’s work of transformation all around them.
